Welcome to the Tornadowrestling.org website. Home of the Lancaster Mat Club, Tornado wrestling club, and the McCaskey Red Tornado Wrestling program, located in Lancaster, PA. The Lancaster Wrestling Program is a great environment for young boys and girls to grow into young men and woman and then to be successful adults. In the wrestling room we don't just teach wrestling, we teach a way of life involving good morals, strong ethics, and postive decision making.

"The Foundation"

Introduction

The following is a living document, and represents the most recent update of what began as the author's vision for wrestling in the city of Lancaster, and in doing so carried the same name; "Statement of Vision ." This document was originally created by Jonathan Mitchell upon assuming the responsibilities of Head Wrestling Coach, in the spring of 1994. This appointment followed the retirement of Hall of Fame coach, Harvey Sitler. Coach Mitchell continues to serve the School District of Lancaster in this capacity.

This document has undergone several evolutions, but continues to be based upon the Pyramid of Participation , a concept developed by Neil Turner, the current Coaching Development Director of the National Wrestling Coaches Association and Director of Turner Wrestling Training. Coach Turner been a successful coach at every level and has served as a mentor to the author, as well as multiple other coaches across the country. More information on Coach Turner's model, which was originally published as a series of articles appearing in 1993 issues of Wrestling USA magazine, can be found on the internet at: www.ntwrestle.com .

Coach Mitchell continues to believe, after serving as the Head Coach in the urban setting of Lancaster for 14 seasons, that the following document provides the needed framework and best describes the aspects essential to accomplishing the following mission:
